The Obsidian Review
The Obsidian Review is a curated literary journal shaped by time, intention, and thoughtful selection.
Within this space, writing is not rushed into visibility, nor reduced to momentary relevance. Instead, it is given the time to form, to settle, and to evolve into something more deliberate and enduring.
Writers are invited to contribute their work to an ongoing editorial cycle—where each submission is read with care, considered thoughtfully, and placed within a larger process of curation.
What emerges is not simply a collection of pieces, but a carefully composed body of work—where only the most resonant voices are brought into light.

How It Works
The Obsidian Review is a curated literary platform built around a structured editorial cycle.
Each cycle unfolds across distinct phases, with a single theme explored over a period of four months. This duration reflects a more considered approach to writing—one that allows ideas to develop gradually, rather than be confined to immediacy.
Writers are invited to submit their work throughout this period, where each piece enters the cycle and is read with care, reviewed thoughtfully, and held within an ongoing editorial process.
At the close of each four-month phase, a limited selection of twenty pieces is chosen—marking a quiet point of culmination, where work that has endured the process is brought into light.
Informed by the rhythm of lunar phases, the cycle moves deliberately—shaping a body of work over time, where each selected piece contributes to a cohesive and carefully curated collection.
The Literary Vision
On Time, Care, and Writing
"Meaning is not created instantly, but shaped gradually."
Begin Within the Cycle
✦ How the Obsidian Cycle Works
A single theme is released at the beginning of each four-month arc. Writers are invited to explore this theme and submit their work over time, allowing ideas to develop with depth rather than urgency.
Submissions remain within the cycle. Each piece is read with care, considered thoughtfully, and placed within an ongoing editorial process instead of being immediately published.
At the end of each four-month phase, twenty pieces are selected. These selections mark a moment of culmination—where work that has endured the process is brought into light.
The cycle continues with a second arc. A new theme is introduced, and the process repeats—forming a complete eight-month editorial journey. At the end of the cycle, all forty selected pieces form the Lunar Book.
✦ A Note for Writers
Ever wanted to write, but didn’t quite know where to begin? As the founder, Soubhagyaa, I’ve been there too—facing the blank page, unsure of what to say or where to start. That’s exactly why we built the Prompt Vault—a space designed to spark ideas, guide your thoughts, and help you step into the cycle with clarity. Take your time, explore it, and begin wherever something resonates.
✦ Final Note
Submissions are open. There is no rush—only the invitation to begin, to explore, and to let your work find its place within the cycle.
